Exterior Intumescent Steel Structure Fireproof Paint
Product introduction:
KD-WSP-FT JY-WB Exterior Intumescent Steel Structure Fireproof paint consists of a fireproof coating base layer and a waterproof weather-resistant surface layer.
 
Application scope:
This product is capable of withstanding hydrocarbon fires and can be widely used for fire protection of outdoor steel structures in the petroleum and petrochemical industry, as well as in industrial and civil construction.

Factory Direct Supply Solvent Based Intumescent Paint Exterior Steel Intumescent Structure Fireproof PaintThe function of expanding coatings is typically to form an expanding protective layer during a fire, providing insulation and flame resistance. When exposed to heat, these coatings expand to form foam or similar structures, preventing flames and heat from spreading to the surface underneath. This helps delay the spread of fire, giving more time for firefighting or evacuation efforts. Expanding coatings are commonly used for fireproof coating of materials such as steel structures, wood, walls, etc., enhancing the fire safety of buildings.

Substrate Treatment and Construction Methods
Surface Treatment of Substrates
(1) Surface Treatment of New Ordinary Steel Structures 
After sandblasting and rust removal of the steel structure surface, apply a matching anti-rust coating. It is recommended to use an epoxy zinc-rich primer followed by an epoxy cloud iron intermediate paint system. 
(2) Surface of Galvanized Steel Structures 
To ensure good adhesion with the fireproof coating, it is necessary to apply an epoxy coating transition paint before construction.
(3) Surface of Old Steel Structures or Old Primers 
If the primer is undamaged and the surface is clean, check the compatibility between the fireproof coating and the primer. If there is no primer or if the primer is severely damaged, rust removal and reapplication of anti-corrosion coatings are necessary before construction.
Before construction, thoroughly inspect whether the steel parts are coated with anti-rust paint, check for dust, oil stains, cracks, and inadequate welding on steel beams and columns. Construction can only commence after ensuring there are no issues.
Steel components that have not undergone anti-rust treatment must be treated for rust before construction.
 
Brush Application of Fireproof Coating
1.Unpack on-site and use electric stirring until the consistency is uniform. If the material is too thick, a small amount of matching thinner can be added until suitable for brushing, but it should not exceed 5% of the coating volume.
2.This coating can be applied by brushing, rolling, or spraying. Alternate between horizontal and vertical strokes for each coat, ensuring even and smooth application.
 
Construction Temperature and Humidity Requirements
1.Apply the coating at temperatures between 5~35°C and relative humidity ≤80%. High humidity or low temperatures can prolong drying time and reduce film adhesion and other performance.
2.The thickness of the coating should not exceed 0.2mm for the first coat.
3.Apply subsequent coats after the first coat has dried, until reaching the specified thickness. The dry film thickness of each coat should not exceed 0.3mm (wet film 0.2-0.4mm).
4.Under normal temperature conditions, allow at least 24 hours between coats; adjust the interval accordingly for high or low temperatures. If the temperature is above 20°C and the airflow is above 2m/s, two coats can generally be applied in one day.
5.It is recommended to use alkali-free fiberglass cloth during product use. When the coating thickness reaches about 1.2-1.5mm, wrap it with alkali-free fiberglass mesh, with an overlap of 5-10cm between meshes. After adding the mesh, use a trowel to press the mesh along one direction, paying attention to pressing firmly at corners and joints, ensuring full compression and no hollow areas before proceeding to the next coat.
6.High humidity, low air flow, or low steel temperatures may cause condensation on the steel, leading to poor adhesion of the coating, and even cracking, peeling, or detachment.
 
Surface Coating Application
To improve the weather resistance and waterproof performance of the coating system, a surface coating must be applied after the fireproof coating. The surface paint can be acrylic polyurethane topcoat, etc. Compatibility between the surface paint and the fireproof coating must be ensured before construction.
1.Apply the matching surface paint when the fireproof coating is basically dry.
2.Unpack the surface paint on-site and use electric stirring until the consistency is uniform. If the material is too thick, a small amount of matching thinner can be added until suitable for brushing, but it should not exceed 10% of the coating volume.
3.The surface paint can be applied by spraying, brushing, rolling, etc.
4.Apply two coats of surface paint to completely seal the fireproof coating.
5.Before applying the surface paint, ensure the fireproof coating is not soaked in rainwater for an extended period.
 
Precautions
1.To enhance the fire resistance stability of key parts of steel structures during a fire, it is recommended to wrap high-strength fiberglass cloth around them during construction.
2.To increase the overall durability of the fireproof coating system and avoid direct exposure of the fireproof coating layer to external environmental erosion, our company requires the application of two coats of high-quality anti-corrosive paint on the surface of the GT-WRP-Fp-WCB fireproof coating layer.
3.The temperature during transportation and storage of this coating must not fall below 5°C.
4.It is strictly prohibited to add other components to this coating, and it must not be mixed with other coatings.
