KD-WSF-Ft-STI-C exterior non-intumescent Steel Structure Fireproof Coating is a fireproof coating product that has passed hydrocarbon fire tests, and its technical performance exceeds the requirements specified for outdoor non-expanding steel structure fireproof coatings in the GB14907-2018 standard.

When exposed to heat, these coatings expand to form foam or similar structures, preventing flames and heat from spreading to the surface underneath. This helps delay the spread of fire, giving more time for firefighting or evacuation efforts. Expanding coatings are commonly used for fireproof coating of materials such as steel structures, wood, walls, etc., enhancing the fire safety of buildings.

Substrate Treatment and Construction Methods
Surface Treatment of Substrates:
1. Surface treatment of steel structures is essential to ensure the durability of fireproof coatings. Depending on the different substrates, the surface treatment of steel structures should undergo the following procedures:
(1) Surface treatment of new ordinary steel structures:
After sandblasting and rust removal of the steel structure surface, apply a matching anti-rust and anti-corrosion coating. It is recommended to use an epoxy zinc-rich primer followed by an epoxy cloud iron intermediate paint system.
(2) Surface of galvanized steel structures:
To ensure good adhesion with the fireproof coating, it is necessary to apply an epoxy coating transition paint before construction.
(3) Surface of old steel structures or old primer:
If the primer is intact and the surface is clean, check the compatibility of the fireproof coating and primer. If there is no primer or the primer is severely damaged, rust removal and reapplication of anti-corrosion coating are necessary before construction.
2. Before construction, thoroughly inspect whether the steel parts are coated with rust-proof paint, and check for dust, oil stains, cracks, and inadequate welding on steel beams and columns. Construction can only commence after confirming no issues through inspection.
3. Steel parts without rust-proof treatment must undergo rust-proof treatment.
 
Construction of Fireproof Coatings:
(1) The construction of the first layer of fireproof coating is the scratch coat:
Mix the coating powder and scratch glue at a ratio of 2:1 by weight, add an appropriate amount of water (the amount of water added can be determined according to the on-site construction conditions for convenience), stir evenly, and apply it by spraying or rolling. The coating thickness is 1-3mm. After the scratch coat is completely dry (for over 24 hours at room temperature), the next layer of coating can be applied.
(2) Mixing ratio of other coating layers:
The mixing ratio of fireproof coating powder to water is 1:0.8~1.2 by weight (the amount of water added can be determined according to the on-site construction conditions for convenience). After accurate measurement, add to the mixer and stir. The stirring time may vary depending on the ambient temperature. When the ambient temperature is above 15°C, the stirring time is 8-10 minutes; when the ambient temperature is between 5-15°C, the stirring time can be appropriately extended.
(3) The second layer of fireproof coating can be applied by spraying or troweling. When using troweling, pay attention to compacting to avoid air voids. The surface of the fireproof coating should not be too smooth, a rough surface is preferred to facilitate adhesion with the next layer of fireproof coating. When spraying, the spray gun should be perpendicular to the sprayed steel component, with a distance of 0.5-0.6 meters. The air pressure should be maintained at 0.6-0.8MPa, and the diameter of the spray gun nozzle should be 8-12mm (or 6-8mm for self-weight spray guns).
(4) The second layer of fireproof coating should be applied when the previous layer is about 70-80% dry (approximately 24 hours later). The thickness of each layer can be 6-8mm until the desired fireproof design thickness is achieved. During interlayer construction, the surface of the fireproof coating should not be too smooth, a rough surface is preferred to facilitate the adhesion between the upper and lower layers.
(5) When the coating thickness reaches about 10-15mm, wrap it with steel wire mesh, with an overlap of 5-10cm between meshes. After attaching the mesh, use a trowel to press the mesh in one direction, paying attention to pressing at corners and joints. When the coating thickness reaches about 21-25mm, wrap it with fiberglass mesh (or carbon fiber mesh), with an overlap of 5-10cm between meshes. (6) When constructing at the base and top of the steel structure, make a 30°~45° bevel on the fireproof coating. After the coating is dry, the top of the bevel must be sealed with outdoor sealant.
